Webducate Pty Ltd ('Webducate') is committed to ensuring that all of its policies, procedures and practices comply with the Privacy Act 1988.

Generally, with the exception of enrolment information required for registration to our eLearning products, you have no obligation to provide us with any personal information. However, if you choose to withhold requested personal information, we may not be able to provide you with the products and services that depend on the collection of that information.

As outlined in the Office of the Federal Privacy Commissioner Privacy Act 1988 'Guidelines to the National Privacy Principles' September 2001, Webducate monitors its practices against the following guidelines:

  • Give people the option of interacting anonymously with our organisation if it is lawful and practicable to do so.
  • Only collect personal information that is necessary for the functions or activities provided by our organisation and relevant to the individual.
  • Use fair, transparent and lawful ways to collect personal information.

  • Take reasonable steps to ensure that the individual is aware of this information even if we have collected it from someone else.

  • Provide access upon request, to the personal information we hold about an individual unless particular circumstances apply that allow us to limit the extent to which we give access. These include emergency situation, specified business imperatives and law enforcement or other public interests.
  • If access to information is refused, we will provide reasons for such refusal.
  • Only adopt, use or disclose a Government identifier if particular circumstances apply or a legal obligation requires us to do so.

RETENTION OF INFORMATION

Webducate does not retain or use any information about visitors to our website unless that person registers for secured information or functionality. Prior to accessing courses or authoring tools, free or otherwise, the website requires you to input certain information about yourself. This may include: your name, company, phone number, email address and comments. This information will be retained by Webducate in order to perform its business functions and maintain a business relationship with you.

USE OF INFORMATION

Your personal information will not be sold or disclosed to any third party without your express consent. The personal information that Webducate maintains is kept for the following purposes:

  • To send you or provide access to the product or service that you have purchased or requested.
  • To communicate with you in relation to the product or service you have purchased or requested.
  • Internal auditing, accounting and administration.
  • To protect you and Webducate from fraud.
  • To obtain feedback on your satisfaction with our products and services.
  • To assist Webducate in identifying other products or services that might be beneficial to you, inform you about them and offer special offers.

The Webducate website may contain links to other web sites and those third party web sites may collect personal information about you. Webducate is not responsible for the privacy practices of other third party websites and we recommend that you review the privacy policy before transacting or interacting with third parties.

COOKIES

Webducate may use a technology called "cookies" to optimise your online experience. The use of cookies is an industry standard and you will find cookies at most major websites. A cookie is a small data element stored by your web browser on your computer system. Webducate cookies do not store personal information about you.

ACCESS TO CLIENT INFORMATION

You have a right to access the personal information that Webducate stores about you. If you find that the information is inaccurate, incomplete or out of date, we will correct it upon your written request.

MANAGEMENT OF ELECTRONIC FILES

Webducate regularly backs up confidential organisation, staff and client information that we maintain electronically to ensure that records are not lost or destroyed. Access is restricted to those individuals who need access in order to perform their defined employment functions. Where possible, a login is established to minimise the potential misuse, modification and disclosure of information.

INTERFERENCE WITH PRIVACY

If an individual believes that someone has interfered with his or her privacy, they should lodge their complaint in the first instance with Webducate. An authorised Webducate staff member will investigate as part of our grievance and appeals process in order to try and resolve the complaint. Complainants will be advised in writing of the outcomes of the grievance.

If the complaint cannot be resolved, it may be referred to the Office of the Federal Privacy Commissioner who will further investigate the complaint.
